This cushion cover is a handloom woven "PINILIAN" weave which hails from the Ilocos Region in poly-cotton blend.
MAN EAGLE -The design goes back to Ilocano folklore where men were imagined to be half beasts. This was about the half man/ half eagle who ruled the mountains and the lush forests.
HAND IN HAND It was traditional to gift a woman with this fabric if a man intended to spend the rest of his life with her.
MARANAO - This was the first design woven by the Ilocanos who fled to Mindanao to flee from the tyranny of the Spaniards.
The other designs are a semblance of the weavers' environment, like flowers and vegetation, the river or the sea.
